Obsidian by Jennifer L. Armentrout

Starting over sucks.
When we moved to West Virginia right before my senior year, I'd pretty much resigned myself to thick accents, dodgy internet access, and a whole lot of boring.... until I spotted my hot neighbor, with his looming height and eerie green eyes. Things were looking up.
And then he opened his mouth.
Daemon is infuriating. Arrogant. Stab-worthy. We do not get along. At all. But when a stranger attacks me and Daemon literally freezes time with a wave of his hand, well, something...unexpected happens.
The hot alien living next door marks me.
You heard me. Alien. Turns out Daemon and his sister have a galaxy of enemies wanting to steal their abilities, and Daemon's touch has me lit up like the Vegas Strip. The only way I'm getting out of this alive is by sticking close to Daemon until my alien mojo fades.
If I don't kill him first, that is.
Obsidian is the first in this new series by Jennifer Armentrout. Katie is the narrator of this story and she moved to West Virginia with her mom after her father died. Katie's only passion was book blogging and nothing was going well and she wasn't happy that her mom made her go meet her neighbors that are her age.
Katie went over to her neighbors to introduce herself and ask where the grocery store was and she was pleasently surprised to find an amazingly gorgeous guy opening the door. Of course like any teenage girl, her spirits went up... and then her spirits quickly plumitted when she found out he was a total ass. After her encounter with the ass, Daemon, she met his sweet and bubbly sister Dee and she quickly became her only friend.
Katie's Senior year started and it seemed to be going well... until Daemon saved her from getting run over by a truck and it turned out that he wasn't around here... yes, he is an alien. Now Katie's only hope of surviving is by sticking by his side and they both face many enemies. Even though Daemon is a complete ass and Katie can't stand him, their attraction is undeniable and their connection grows even stronger at the end of the book... because they are literally connected.
Katie, Daemon, Dee, and the other aliens have to fight a powerful enemy, the Arum, and when all hope is lost, Katie taps into Daemon's and Dee's powers and kills off the Arum and nearly kills herself in the process. Daemon takes matters into his own hand and heals her with his powers and when he healed her, he connected them the each other.
Thiss book got me hooked to this whole series and I am so excited to read Onyx, the sequel! I would definitely reccomand this book to all the YA paranormal romance fans out there.
